Getting Lauren's Room Ready

Jackson is helping daddy paint Lauren's room. We decided to knock this out this weekend since Allison is starting to have Braxton-Hicks contractions.

Nursery Makeover

Tonight, I started painting my little girl's nursery. It is
definitely pink! Allison isn't crazy about it, but I want my daughter
to have a pink room. It's going to be very nice... our designer
friend is sewing some curtains and bedding. I can't believe we're
going to have another baby!

Christmas at Home

We had a quiet Christmas this year.  Allison is 8 months pregnant and therefore beyond the point where she can travel, so a holiday trip to Houston was out of the question for us.  This year, we went to a great candlelight service at our church on Christmas Eve.  Christmas morning was really special with just our little family, but we had Christmas dinner with our neighbors and their families, half of which were strangers to us.  Everyone was very nice and the food was great.  But, as we spent the afternoon chasing Jackson around a house that we had never been in before, I wished that we could have shared that experience with our loved ones.  I thought it might be nice to forego the hustle and bustle, but in reality, that is a small price to pay for being with your family on Christmas.

Grandma's Peanut Butter Candy Recipe

We made this recipe that my Grandma Bellomy used to make for my brother and I when we were kids. This stuff is amazing when it is still warm (careful because it can really burn you), but it gets pretty hard when it cools. A 12 seconds in the microwave can help with that.

Mix the following and bring to a boil for 3 minutes:

• 1 c. sugar
• 1 c. Karo syrup
• 1 pinch salt

Stir in the following:

• 1 c. Peanut Butter
• 5 c. Rice Krispies

Spread on cookie sheet
Let cool
Enjoy

Christmas Photo

We got this one on the first try. The secret was to let Jackson play with an ornament of the tree... we took it away again after the picture. :(

Express Mail

I found out that the USPS will actually deliver Express Mail on
Sundays... if you pay them enough.

That's news to me!

Queso & Jesus

Today, Jackson said two new words... "queso," and "Jesus." He loves chips and queso, and we can only hope that Jesus will someday be the treasure of his heart.
